Haryana, India, is known for its traditional jewellery, which evokes the Vedic era. The state is home to numerous storied practises. There is a lot of folklore in the state. The people of Haryana take great pride in donning their antique jewellery. Gold and silver are used in nearly all jewellery. The wedding is one of the few occasions where heavy jewellery is appropriate. Different cultures give unique names to the same jewellery items.

Borla and Sahr are traditional headpieces for the Haryanvi bride. Borla is a gold sphere strung together. It's typically worn with Sahr and is made primarily of gold and diamonds. Sahr is a piece of silver jewellery worn alongside the Borla. Most tahr pieces are substantial and weighty. This antique bridal jewellery was once the norm.

The fashion, though, shifted a while ago. Gold tikkas set with rubies or emeralds are no longer worn by Haryanvi brides.

# Nath and Long

Nath and Long are typically attached to the left ear via the left nostril. The long is of the chain variety, and both the path and the long are made of gold. Jewellery like this makes Haryanvi brides look stunning. These days, the Nath the bride wears is made of fine gold and set with precious stones. Today, we no longer use the age-old combination of Nath and long.

This necklace has a lot going for it. It is placed in the nasal septum. My grandmother's mother used to wear it, but I never saw it on anyone in my family. It's crafted of gold and set with precious stones. These pieces of jewellery would be classified as medium or larger.

# Jhumki / Magar and Kundal

The earring designs are straightforward. They are known as Jhumki/Magar and kundal in Haryana.  Gold jhumki include ornate, vintage engravings. However, the patterns have evolved over time. The jhumki are now an artistic creation made of precious stones and pearls. They are stunning to look at.

Also on the rise in popularity are kundals. They are commonly used and worn by women. Even though the style has evolved, it is still very popular among women in Haryana.

# Hasla, Panchmora and Galsari/ Kanthi

This necklace was a popular accessory. Women who are married are the most likely to wear panchmora. We continue to use them now. Hasla is hefty bridal jewellery traditionally presented to the bride on her wedding day. Hasla is composed of gold and hangs loosely around the wearer's neck despite its heft.

Older women also wore jewellery such as galsari/kanthi. Silver is used to create the hefty jewellery. The style is classic and sophisticated.
